Nuria Ferrando (Valencia, 1981) mixes marble dust into her oil so the paint dries with a faint mineral weight — the surface catches light like a wall does, not like a photograph. Weight No. 7 moves the palette of the series toward green: a sage she mixed from a plant that grows wild along the path to her studio, set against sand and a warm, almost-white. It sold within a week of the show opening, to a collector who had followed the series since No. 2. Ferrando is already at work on No. 9, and has asked that the room not be rehung until the show closes — she likes visitors to see where a painting has gone.
