Aiko Rendell (Lisbon, 1987) studied acoustics before she studied painting, and it shows: her ink drawings trace the standing-wave patterns a metal plate makes when a violin bow is drawn across its edge — the same Chladni figures used in physics classrooms, redrawn by hand at the speed the ink allows rather than the speed the plate vibrates. Resonance (Delta) records a frequency close to the lowest note on a cello. It found a buyer on the opening night, a musician who asked Inés whether the pattern could be played back; it can, roughly, and Rendell has since recorded the frequency as a short file kept with the work's paperwork.
